I'd just buy newborn you can always exchange them for bigger sizes. Everybody told me size newborns and size one are almost the same but that's not true AT ALL size 1 is way bigger. My baby girl is 6 weeks she still wears a newborn size and had already went through all the ones we stocked up on and had to buy more.
My son was 6 lbs 8 oz at birth and was in newborn for 3 weeks. He goes through about 8 or 9 diapers a day. So about 180 diapers. Every baby is different. I would say get less newborn diapers. You can always get more if you need them. My son is 14 weeks and has been in size 1 for 11 weeks now. That's about 693 diapers for us. One thing - if you buy a lot, don't open them until absolutely necessary because you might be able to exchange for a bigger size down the road.

They go through diapers like crazy in the beginning so I'd stock up more on sizes NB-2,3
