Every baby is different some babies skip crawling and start walking. try to encourage baby to crawl move toys right out of reach and see if baby will crawl to them to get them.
My sons also 8 months and doesn't even sit up yet. He'll sit for a few seconds and fall to the side and he doesn't move anywhere when you put him on his belly. He'll take steps if you stand him up and hold his hands though. I only work 3 days a week and am with him anytime I'm not at work. He's only on his back when he sleeps. Were always going different activities to try and get him moving. When people find out he isn't doing things yet they always tell me I need to give him more tummy time or do this or that but I hate that because I do everything to get him to sit/crawl

My baby is almost 9 months and she doesn't crawl yet, everyone tells me it's normal but just to put them on their belly more.

he can scoot backwards but forward he has no interest at all

From my reading they crawl anywhere from 6 to 10 month. My girl is 7 months and she doesn't crawl yet.
