My little guy slept on his back most of the time, until he could roll over by himself, (apart from tummy time through out the day supervised) then he went to his stomach. He's been a tummy sleeper ever since. If they want to sleep on their stomach there's no way you can prevent it. As long as they have the neck and head control to move by them self it's completely safe.
