It really angers me when I see people commenting on posts saying 'oh babies run out of room towards the end' and 'baby is probably just having a lazy day' NO BABIES DO NOT RUN OUT OF ROOM, if your baby has stopped moving or the movements are reduced you need to get checked out immediately, reduce fetal movement is a sign of distress and is the only way your baby can communicate with you, if you have monitoring and are told all is well, but you still have a gut feeling that something isn't right then you need to tell somebody, mommas instinct is ALWAYS right. It doesn't matter how many times you have to go up to the hospital, it's always better to be safe rather than sorry

I would love a fetal doppler but I wouldn't use it to check babies health. if I thought something was wrong I'd go to the hospital but a fetal doppler is a nice way to bond with baby :)

Yeah a fetal dopler can be great if you know how to use one, but definitely not to check babies well being if you haven't felt the baby move or feel as though something isn't quite right

I don't use mine to monitor movement. That's not why they're designed. They're just a nice way to include your partner by listening to babies heartbeat together. If people are stupid enough to use a Doppler as a reassurance tool then that's their issue. I would've thought it was common sense to phone your midwife or local hospital when movements change/increase/decrease

Completely agree!! x

I would've thought so too @nashkay but the amount of people I have seen on social media commenting on people's posts saying 'baby will probably just be slowing down for labour' or 'I checked the heartbeat and baby seemed fine' is unreal, if something doesn't feel right you call the midwife straight away, dopplers are great if used properly, a great way to bond and to keep your partner involved but definitely not to be used as a way of checking babies well being x

@darciepenny, really? I bet people are saying it in a well meaning way but in reality have no fucking clue what they're on about lol I've been up the hospital twice for reduced movements. I only bought a Doppler so my mom could hear baby and it's nice sometimes when I'm in bed reading and I have a little listen. It's very relaxing. But yeah, they're not suppose to be used for monitoring. X

Yeah I know😂 it's just common sense isn't it, really bugs me when people start saying they're running out of room or slowing down, it's just not true at all, ive been up twice for reduced movements, some people are scared of making a worry out of nothing I think but at the end of the day, what's one trip to the hosp when your babies life is on the line x

I completely agree too!! Get checked out if you feel reduced movements etc!!!! Even though I am nearly 37 weeks...my bubs still moves around as normal. There shouldn't be any reason why they slow down in the late stages! The uterus grows with the baby! x x

the only way of them signalling distress is by slowing down, it could mean any number of things is wrong and should always be looked at straight away, even the monitors can be wrong sometimes, mothers instinct is always right x x
