Getting sooo many mixed opinions on introducing babies to pacifiers. Now I'm told if you don't wean…

the video I saw today with my nurse suggested not to give them a paci until about they are 4 months because it can confuse them and then might have difficulty latching on. I don't know how accurate that it though.

From personal experience. The nurse gave my son a pacifier and he liked it and when I was breastfeeding he would latch on to me still. Right now that he's teething he doesn't want any paci in his mouth. Since he doesn't I don't carry or use them at all anymore. So it just depends on your baby.

my girl started using her pacifier while we were still in the hospital, but by the time she hits 5 months I'm going to start cutting the tips off of her pacis and weaning her off them. its really up to you momma, go with what you feel.

@mommytomia, I used one with my son and now my daughter. I tried initially not using one with my son, but I then became his human pacifier, it was exhausting! so after about a week I gave him one and it was great I got to have a break! when he was 5 months old he spit it out one day and never took it again! (he's 12 now by the way lol) My daughter is 3 months old, I didn't think twice, I gave it to her from the start (I even read it reduces the risk of SIDS). It really helps soothe them instead of having your boob in their mouth all the time.

they have a pacifier set that will naturally wean your baby off of it so I would just recommend that
