a lot of people bought me nb size from m6 baby shower, and I had a bit leftover. I'd say buy mostly 1's, and buy as you go. My baby flew threw nb-2, she stayed in size 3-4 so far the longest.

A few newborns. Mostly 1s and 2s. Don't open any packages and tape the receipts to the packs and return what you don't open or exchange what you don't use for the size that you need

I bought one big thing of newborn and won't be buying anymore in that size. but I'll be starting on getting size 1s and up now. I plan on get 3 big boxes of each size up to size 4.

if yew have a baby shower wait to see how many packs nd of what size they give yew but my boy flew out of nb nd 1 .. he stayed on 2 for a month and a half nd was at 3 for a couple months nd now he's at size 4 for months

you can easily go to a store and just exchange them for a different size of it's an unopen box. they don't require a receipt to exchange or get in store credit.
