My daughter was diagnosed with trisomy X at 12 weeks gestation. She is now 4 months old beautiful as ever and right on track with her milestone. Trisomy X is a rare genetic condition that happens once in every 1,000 births. It is not the mothers fault or fathers fault it is something that just happens when the embryo develops. Trisomy X is a extra copy of the X chromosome that determines gender. Most women are born with 2 x's to determine female. My daughter has an extra copy making her XXX instead of XX. Most girls that are born with trisomy X also known as triple X syndrome grow up to live a happy normal life some don't even know they were born with an extra X copy. Most girls with triple X will be a lot taller than other girls their age, 10% will have a issue with their kidneys, 10% will grow to have seizures, 10% will be diagnosed with autism. Theirs a chance that women born with trisomy X will have issues with their reproductive systems and can possibly not be able to carry their own child. Most girls with triple X syndrome will shy away from big crowds. Most girls will have delays and low muscle town which can prevent them from Sitting, walking crawling and talking on time. Nothing extra help, love and support and early intervention can't fix. Triple X syndrome does not define who my daughter is. She is beautiful, smart happy, bright, vibrant and extra special in her own way. She is just like everyone other child born around the world. She was just sealed with a extra kiss when she was born.
