😳 my dr made me fast for 8 hours before drinking this. Including water 😁

why do they do a blood draw?

@dieselsmom0117, to check how your blood sugar is after drinking the sugary drink to make sure you don't have gestational diabetes... @abella1023 that's sucks! 😟

I didn't have to fast. There's different ways to do the test so it just depends on the doctor. @abella1023 @peanuts1mom

My Dr didn't make me fast either. I have had the Orange flavor before and it just tastes like the orange drink you get at the store.

@kmally, wow weird. Even on here I've seen everyone fast. I would think for best results it's best to fast. But yeah I guess all Drs are different😁 good luck!

my doctor told me if you don't fast the test will take 3 hours instead of 1 hour cause you have to wait extra time for the un accounted for sugars and what not to leave your body

...he said it can really mess with the test I wasn't allowed to eat anything after 12 my appointment was at 8....so 8 hours....I wasn't allowed water either....it sucked but it beat sitting in the doctors office for 3 hours or having to retake it cause eating or drinking screwed it up

@brooklynnesmommy1203, they have different ways of running the test/ reading the results. Mine was a one hour test and the results turned out just fine. They make you do a 3 hour only if you fail the 1 hour. Again, really just depends on the Doctor and the way they do things and run their tests.

The current guidelines on American pregnancy says that no fasting is needed for the test.

@peanuts1mom, @abella1023 @brooklynnesmommy1203 @kmally I didn't have to fast at all the paper they gave me said to eat breakfast as I normally would and to drink the drink within 2 to 3 minutes an hour before my appt. and not have anything to eat afterwards
