So yesterday I started bleeding and passing blood clots. I'm 5 weeks along. I went in and they couldn't tell anything from pap, they checked my hcg and it had doubled since I had it checked 24 hours prior at my appointment. They did an ultrasound but didn't let me see the screen and didn't tell me anything about it. When I was discharged the doctor said its probably just some normal early pregnancy bleeding, but on the papers the nurse gave me it says threatened miscarriage. What does that mean? and has anyone ever bleed and passed clots and not miscarried? I really don't want to lose this baby.

Try not to stress and call your dr to follow up. My best friend had bleeding like a period her entire pregnancy and she now has a happy healthy 2 yr old. Prayers!

Did she pass clots too? I go in today to get my hcg levels checked again, but don't get to see doctor. and thank you.

Hey sweetie, first of all, I am sorry you are going through this. At 12 weeks along, I began bleeding really heavily, and started passing large clots. My husbabd rushed me to the ER. I was certain I was miscarrying because I had just had a miscarriage a month before I got pregnant with this baby. Fortunately, the ultrasound they did revealed I was not miscarrying, baby was moving around and seemed healthy and fine, but the doctor called what I had a subchorionic hemmhorage. Also, a threatened miscarriage. It was a terrifying, scary time for me with so much uncertainty. I did a LOT of research. I found out that a SCH is a normal occurance, and most women who have them go on to heal and have normal, full term pregnancies. I am now 29 weeka along with a healthy baby boy. Keep hope! xo Dont stress any more than you have to, but I know how hard that is. I suggest you see your OB asap and follow their advice. I put myself on bed rest for a month when I had mine, only got up to use the bathroom or eat, and get my kids from their bus. I am 5 weeks along they said its to early to see anything and to early to get a heart beat. I have very mild cramping every so often not constant though my hcg levels were over 5000 and only 2800 24hours before that. I stopped passing big clots yesterday morning now just spotting not even enough to change a pad. I go in this afternoon to check levels again. I wish I could put myself on bed rest but I'm a stay at home mom of a 3&1year; old.

When I first found out I was pregnant, I was told that I had a Subchorionic hematoma, like @sarahemccormick is talking about. I never bled, but basically, it's a blood clot between the uterine wall and the placenta keeping the placenta from attaching to your uterine lining. It's definitely a terrifying thing. My doctor told me that I'd either bleed because it would be coming out, or my body would just absorb it, which is what ended up happening. Just take it easy and don't over stress.
