The most beautiful part of pregnancy is labor and delivery.. It is hell, it is painful, but it is all worth it when you hear your baby cry and baby is put into your arms..
It is haunting me that she was taken straight from me to the NICU and that i didnt hear her first cry until a few days ago and she will be two weeks old tomorrow..
How do you get over that? How do you get over the fact that doctors told you shes fighting for her life? Nine months.. 40 weeks and 4 days i held you in my body and wasnt able to hold you until just a few days ago..
There is a light at the end of this tunnel.. She finally gets to come home sometime this week.. But how do you hold onto that memory and become okay with it? My heart aches every minute.. Every second.. Does it ever get better.. I just want to be better

They did the same to me with my son. After 40 hours in labor I ended up with a c-section. He was born with low blood sugar and he was jaundice. I heard him cry once and didn't hold him at all until his sugar was somewhat regulated even then I only held him for a few hours then he went into the NICU and I went home with out him. I never really got over it. I still get anxious when my baby isn't near me. If I see someone take him into the next room my heart speeds up and I feel the anxiety kicking in. It's definitely a process and it does get better. Having your baby taken from you is the most horrible feeling ever.

God this has me in tears!! I felt your exact pain when my son was born. It was nothing at all like I imagined and he was in the NICU for a month and a half.

@josephsmomma2015, that is so hard i couldnt even imagine the heart break you went through. Now that she is home, i am struggling so badly. I am fighting hard against pp depression.. When they took her away i mentally prepared myself to loose her. I put up walls after walls after walls for my heart because they didnt think she would make it.. Now sitting here with her in my arms needing me i feel no connection. I feel like mentally i lost my baby the day she was born and thats a terrifying feeling.

That breaks my heart I'm so sorry. I knew my son was going to be okay and I think that's what helped me get through it. I can't imagine going day by day not knowing if she would make it. Please hang in there I promise you the connection will kick in because when my son came home I felt like our connection wasn't as strong as when I was pregnant. It was almost like he didn't know me as well as he should of. It always made me cry. But after a couple weeks that little boy was obsessed with his momma, he knew exactly who I was and soon you will find comfort in her when you feed her and she looks at you like your all she's ever needed. She will know that you are her rock soon enough and don't doubt yourself you will come around to!

It's just gonna take some time. It's insane what our bodies and minds go through and if your husband or family doesn't understand then it makes it harder. Only you truly know how you feel, you just need to keep in mind that you can handle this, you can. No matter what. You deserve that little girl and she deserves you.
