I don't really talk about this much but: Becoming a young mom changed my life.

I get a lot of stares at stores or the occasional comment: "You don't look old enough to be a mom!" That is not what I'm here to talk about. I'm here to talk about what joy becoming a mom has taught me.

Patience:

I stand in line at grocery stores and do not even think about how long the line is.

I can sit and listen to a child cry or throw a fit in the store without glancing to see who's child it is.

I can stand there and wait for my child to pick up their toys or stop throwing a fit without even telling them to stop. Being a mom taught me how to get through life without an expectation that things should be done quickly. You have to take your time and enjoy what's going on.

Kindness:

You always want to be a main example to your child. You want them to look up to you, that's a given. But, how can they when they see you not pass on kindness?

You don't inherit kindness, you learn it.

Not everything that happens is a big deal:

Yes, I am talking about fevers and the stomach flu. When my babies were newborns I freaked out about every little thing.

But, when my 1 & 2 year old both got hit with the stomach bug & the next day they acted like nothing happened. I realized not everything that happens to them will kill them.

They get sick like we do. You will always know when to call the dr and when not to.

Most importantly, LOVE:

I stopped caring about the stares and rude remarks. I stopped taking it personal that not everyone is going to agree with my decision.

I now know to to stop and enjoy life and how technology isn't important.

I feel peace when turning on Jake and the Neverland Pirates or Bubble Guppies in the morning and hearing my babies dance to it before breakfast.

Seeing them happy and having fun every day is so worth it.

Seeing how much they love me in their eyes,

& hearing my 2 year old say "I love you more mommy" or when my 1 year old reaches up for me when I come home from work makes it worth it.

They will always be worth it.
