I'm seriously freaking out about how I'm going to handle my older sons school work with him when the baby comes in a couple weeks. My 9 year old is in an Advanced Academic School that he worked so hard to get into this year but it is CHALLENGING. We spend at least 2 hrs or more every night doing homework and all my attention goes onto him.. I don't want my son to fall behind, this school moves so fast and he has to be able to keep up or he'll have to go back to a regular Elementary School. 😕😧😳

just make time to feed and bathe your newborn and while they are down for a nap put your full focus on him! just have a monitor beside you just incase. they should only wake up to be fed or for a diaper change. all your free time will be the little ones naptime lol

Call the high school and see if they have Honor Students that are looking for volunteer hours. He might not need the tutoring but they can help with homework (at least where I'm at they have a program like that). It's something worth looking into.

Yeah that's what his teacher suggested also. I'm going to look into it. The challenge for him is that he's in 3rd grade but he does 4th grade work. So he literally has to learn 3rd and 4th grade at the same time and it will pile up FAST if we don't stay on top of it. So everyday he gets packets and packets of homework and if I'm not right there with him he won't stay focused.

Plus he's in a basketball program also, where he "coaches" special needs kids and that takes up our time after school too.

I understand @ninjamami . my son is going to an advanced vocational high school.next year and he's my.only child and I've always solely focused on him and his education and sports. so I'm concerned now that I'm pregnant with his brother how I can divide attention appropriately.

@excitedmom36, EXACTLY. He's been my only child for so long and I just don't want neglect him because he's older and more independent. And if he falls behind I'm going to feel like that is completely my fault. His education is so important to me.

I'm a teacher as well so I understand. my.sons education is extremely important to me. we can do it because we must.
