Okay lady's I'm at my wits end with this thrush! It's definitely no joke! I stopped breastfeeding and just have been pumping and giving it to him in a bottle thinking we were just giving it back and forth to each other! He has been on the nystatin since the 28th of December. I have used the gentain violet for 3 nights. I'm boiling my breast pump materials and his bottle nipples. I'm taking a probiotic. I have been cleaning my nipples after every pump session and using the nystatin cream. And it just won't go away! I just don't know what else to do! Something has to give! My breast feel normal. His little tongue is still white as could be. 😢 The whole time I've been praying it goes away! He goes back to the doctor on Tuesday, so maybe they will recommend something else.
I used the violet stuff once. I couldn't do it again. I tasted it and it tastes like poison and I couldn't do that to him again. It's meant for cuts and abrasions not thrush. But I use great value soap.
Oh my! @arians_mommy. What brand of soap did you use in the dish washer? Did you use anything after stopping the Nystatin? How long did you use the gentain violet?
Yes and no. He stopped latching at a month. Don't use dawn. It made my sons thrush worse. And the nystatin made him throw up so I stopped using it
Wow 3 months! @arians_mommy. That's crazy. I don't have a dish washer. I've been diligent on using clean hot water and antibacterial soap and then boiling his nipples. I just want it to go away. I'm surprised your son's doctor wasn't concerned that he had for 3 months. Where you breastfeeding at the time?
Oh wow, it worked for my baby. I was using the medicine and I would sterilize her bottles each time also because at first, I didn't sterilize them at all. Hopefully your doctor can prescribe something else!
My son had thrush for three months and we used nystatin and purple violet. The only thing that seem to work was washing his bottles in the dishwasher and I stopped boiling his nipples and bottles and he hasn't had it since he's seven months now
Yeah we are using the Nystatin 4 times a day. They say it should have been gone within 10 days but it's been 14 days now he has been on it. I'm hoping the doctor will give him something else on Tuesday. @marcelljessica
My baby girl had it but I when I went to to her 2week check up two weeks ago, her doctor prescribe her some medicine. She had to take it 4 times a day. & it went away within a couple of days!
If you don't mind me asking what is the medicine your daughter is on @adara0001
My babygirl has this too ! But the medicine she is on is working pretty good
Yeah I used the gentain violet for the 3 nights like they recommended but I won't use it again. @adara0001
