My doctor told me too avoid deli meats. :( I've been craving a sandwich for months!

@booboolanii, something about this bacteria that could be in it called listerin? I think. Here what I found when I googled it. It's not safe for pregnant women to eat deli meats (such as ham, turkey, salami, and bologna) or hot dogs unless the food has been thoroughly heated and is steaming hot. These foods can cause a form of food poisoning called listeriosis that is dangerous for you and your baby.

You should be fine @booboolanii I think you would have something like the stomach flu like symptoms if you had it, not all of the deli meat has it but I guess it's just to big of a risk for us to eat it. I would say maybe just avoid it from now on?

If you heat the deli meat it should be fine. Just as long as you don't eat it cold.

@booboolanii, @alyssabrittany If you get it freshly cut at the deli it should be fine. This is my 3rd baby and haven't had any issues. I have a sensitive stomach when pregnant.

@mommyoftwoboys166, I'm sure it's not common but they just don't want us to risk it, she actually told me especially not freshly cut from the deli :/
