I'm sure u all heard about the mass shooting that happened at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg Oregon on Oct 1st that took 9 beautiful souls. Well, I grew up in Roseburg and now I live just 10 min away from there in Sutherlin. That day my innocent community was shattered. We are a small and tight nit community. Where everybody knows every body. I had friends on campus that day, and while I was watching CNN and waiting for my friends to let to me know they were ok, I cried like a baby. Nothing like that has ever happened here. We had never seen violence like that. My town was rocked to its core that day. luckily all my friends were ok. But other people weren't as fortunate. Some lost their loved ones because the shooter (who we will never speak his name cause we refuse to give him the attention he wanted) was part of a "beta males" cult or whatever and wanted to prove to "alpha males" that he was strong and superior. But that event has made us come together like no one thought we could. My community has changed for the better. We are kinder to strangers, smile at everyone, help more when we see someone in need. I'm so proud of my community for trying to make the best out of it. within hours businesses put messages of inspiration on their boards, saying that they were praying for the families, and even were offering prayer and support groups inside. Never has Roseburg had so many news vehicles here. It was so weird for us cause our little, boring town suddenly became center stage with the whole world watching. well, the news crews came and went, but my community is still shattered. You can feel it when u go through town, especially when u drive past the college. The president came to comfort the families. We have gotten more hero's this year then ever, first it was Alex skarlatos who stopped a terrorist attack in france. Then Chris Mintz who got shot while trying to stop the shooter and treven aspaugh who laid his dying body over a girl to make the shooter think that she was dead to and saved her life. anyway, my point for posting this is even though the news crews have left and we are no longer all over the news, prayers are still needed for us, to move on, make the best of life.

My heart will always go out to the Roseburg community. I know multiple people who go to school there and it was scary not knowing if they were safe or not.
