Stevia is natural and comes from a plant, and I think its much safer than Splenda, nutra sweet and other sweeteners. Agave nectar and raw sugar and Stevia are safe options.
Any fake sugar isn't good because its artificial, and it is much sweeter but that's because it has additives. Those aquaballs are actually not good for kids at all. They're basically just another marketing scam. They contain aspartame which is a horrible neurotoxin, it encourages sugar cravings, it stores fat into your body and can induce diabetes, there's a million more bad things about aspartame as well. They also contain sodium hexametaphosphate, which is an ingredient used in dog food, teeth whitening products, bath salts, bubble bath, and factory boiler water. This stuff is not "water" whatsoever. It's basically a "Diet Coke" scheme, they're trying to make parents think they're good for kids but they REALLY aren't! I sure as hell wouldn't let my kids drink these things, especially kids so young like your friend is buying them for.

It's not super super bad for you, but the cons definitely outweigh the pros.
