@t142, yes ma'am and I'm in no way being ugly when it comes to the religion and the beliefs- my husbands family is divided between holiness and oneness. They don't cut their hair, wear makeup, and only wear skirts. So being from somewhere so much more liberal I was taken by surprise and it took them a good 5 years to accept me as I am.

That's the same way I was raised. They believe in a natural feminine beauty. Anything in excess is bad within their religion. It does take some of them a while. I stopped going to church about 6 years ago, it too my mother 2 years to accept my new way of dressing up.

I'll warn you some are extremists in where everything is religious and a lot is "bad" and only what they believe is right. BUT then you'll find other very gentle in a way that just a glance at their smile or their touch is soothing. You'll find from on extreme to the next.

@t142, girl yes! I've found both already. My husbands family is the extreme extreme! So imagine my surprise when I wandered down this way tattooed, makeup, short hair, and two illigitament children. 🙊 it took a while but most of them tolerate me now. Can I ask, do you still consider yourself Pentecostal?

Yes, I do. My advice to you is if they still have a problem (and they shouldn't "tolerate" you) is be yourself. Show them you can be loving and caring. Not everything is about image it's all about following Christ and believing He is our savior. *yikes* I'm sorry you've come across those that are extremists, many times they can come off as judgmental. I'm sorry about that but honestly, not all are the same.

Im Pentecostal, but i wasn't always I was raised in different religions my real dad used to be Mormon when I was little and my mom was baptist and that caused some conflict, and then my mom changed from baptist to non-denominational, and then my real dad changed to Methodist, and then got married for the 3rd time.. and now is baptist for his temporary current wife so I was baptist from ages 0 - 13 and then was non-denominational from 13 - 19, and not all Pentecostal churches are the same like mine we focus strictly on the bible, and not of our own opinions, and we aren't strict on dress code either because that's a personal choice, and we aren't strict on hair length for women, and men because that's also a personal choice, and almost all of us besides the little girls of course wear make up, and cut our hair or trim our hair (I personally wear makeup, and cut, and trim my hair) and not all of us strictly wear dresses, and skirts I don't depending on the occasion like for camping, and fishing, and stuff I wear pants but other then that I strictly wear skirts, and dresses, and people come to our church from all different religions because we welcome everyone and we don't care how you dress or look just as long as you come (we are a very small church also) and we aren't snake handlers like most people seem to think, we don't mess around with snakes! 😂
