I used gas & air with my little guy, and can honestly say it just made me sick in the stomach & if you didn't suck it in hard enough the machine wouldn't make a noise and i kept getting yelled at for not doing it properly. In my opinion, I would not have an epidural, as I've heard too many close friends and family members with horror stories from them. The pain of birth is only temporary & I just kept focusing on getting him here safely. However it's a very personal Choice of course & I would never judge another mum who got one. I just had a friend deliver a little girl a month ago and she had an epidural and couldn't feel anything when she pushed and tore from 'one hole to the other one' in her words...

Also, am planning to do the same this time around too. But will try without the gas maybe @carlyanaya

I had an epi and it was amazing could feel enough to push! My midwife friend said you need to be in good established labour for it to not slow things down :)

I had a epi, it didn't delay the time nor put baby under pressure. I had a 9 pound 14 baby. I had a 4 hour labour and she was delivered in 25 minutes. Hope this helps :)

@steph194, hey, where I'm having my baby there is no option for epidural! Just gas air and pethidine! So I do t have a lot of choice lol x
