It can only really be done when you're in labor. The reason they give the antibiotics to you is so it isn't passed to your baby, which can be done during vaginal birth. And it's fine, honestly it's nothing to worry about, pamphlets and Google makes it out to be a whole lot worse than it is, as long as you get treated in labor, it's fine. And no I had zero complications and my baby was born just fine.
if you want to you can ask but you'll be treated during labor to keep baby safe.
Would it not help if I ask for the antibiotics for it when I go tonight? Or can it only be done so many hours before delivery? I'm sorry I'm asking so much I just read that and it's kinda scary.. did you have any complications? @their.bomb.ass.mom
but if my water would've broken I would have went immediately, which is what you're supposed to do anyways, but they had to break my water.
what was posted above explains it. And I tested positive for it with my first, when I started having contractions I waited 2 hours for them to intensify, and when I was admitted they checked my file, saw that I had it, and then started the IV. I was still in labor for 17 hours, so I had plenty of time.
I'm just worried what if I don't get there early enough.. I'm going to the hospital tonight because they didn't check me and I'm having a lot more pain so my boyfriend suggested we go to the hospital and get checked just wondering if I should tell them or just pray that my labor doesn't go too fast that I don't have time :/ this is kinda scaring me :/
They put it in the system and usually you'll be put on antibiotics during labor.
when you start having contractions go, you have to have atleast 4 hours of antibiotics so baby wont get it @keithallen
They didn't check me at my appt just said I was positive for gbs and to have a good day and she left.. So I didn't really know what to think..I'm wondering if I should go to the hospital and get the antibiotics for it..what if I don't make it to the hospital in time to get it before my baby is born 😭
no prob.
