usually the father has to be present to consent if you're not married.I mean personally I'm nor gibing my son his fathers last name

Give the baby your last name. Whether baby has your name or his won't matter in the court system. IF you ever decide to go that route. And if he's not out by the time you have the baby to sign the birth certificate you can always establish proof of paternity later.

@itssteffy21, my first son his dad and I were not together so he got my last name. it has worked out for the best he now had my husband and his brothers last name.

when my daughter was born her dadd was in prison. i went back and forth for months trying to think what was the best thing to do well she got his last name on the fact that she is his. i gave him a chance to prove to me that he was going to be there for her. and i told him if u slack it wont be nothing to change her last name back to mine.

I gave both my kids my last name because theit father wanted nothing to do with them

my youngest daughters real dad was never in the picture...she has my last name...I left him because of the abuse and I didn't know I was pregnant till I left...I take care of her on my own..

@bianca_rose, we were together when he got locked up and a week of him being in there I found out we were expecting .I haven't seen him in a month maybe more . I haven't had much contact with him either last time we talked we got into a argument . also I found out the week before he got locked up he cheated was talking to his ex wife. so our relationship has been on the rocks .
