That's pretty much what it's like when dealing with any government affiliated establishment.... Why I avoid them.
well its frustrating for one because wic tells me to go through medicaid, i call medicaid and they transfer me to a number who cant help me and that number gives me 2 more numbers to call who also cant give me all the details i need to know to start the process. if you cant even provide me with where i need to go get the pump how does that help me? i have 9 weeks left before im scheduled for my c section and I would like to have this before my babies get here bc with twins i might not even make it that long. you obviously dealt with someone who could give you valuable information about how and where to get your pump but unfortunately that wasn't the case for me. Less judgment from you would be appreciated because you dont know any of the sacrifices that i have made for my girls and fast service isnt what i want, its ACCURATE INFORMATION that i want not just half the puzzle @ash2014c
I guess I read one too many posts of people complaining. I did offer a suggestion of getting what is needed from the dr during a normal prenatal. But if people don't want to go through the hassle then go buy your own pump or take the hand pump that is easier to acquire. I'm having to go through the same hassle but instead am GRATEFUL for it. Americans are entitled and expect 'fast food' service everywhere in life.
@ash2014c, but why you sound so judgmental and upset ? If you don't have any advice or any encouragement why even comment ?
So you have to go to your Dr. twice, once for a letter for clearance and once for an Rx (assuming you have regular prenatals this can be done at that time). And call around medical equipment stores to see if they carry it and then go get it. I just don't see how it's difficult. Sorry. They are hundreds of dollars otherwise and there are 9 months before a baby is here.
Do you have a pregnancy resource center? I got one for free from there....maybe WIC might be easier than Medicaid to get the pump from. Also maybe someone you know has one you can sterilize, or you can out on your registry for the shower!
when you deliver usually the hospital can give you a hand pump for free. also they usually have a breastfeeding lady there who also may help get a breast pump
Some people don't have the means to run around town, that should be obvious. it sounds like a lot to me too,I don't have a car or time for all that @ash2014c
medicaid and wic. i just called and they said that if i want a electric pump my dr has to send something to them stating it is medically necessary for me to have the electric pump and then the insurance has to approve it, and then my dr has to write a prescription, and then i have to go find a location who carries the pump my insurance covers (which my insurance couldnt tell me when i called). Im having twins and want to feed my babies. why does this process have to be so extensive. Dont promote breast feeding if you are gonna make the process difficult
Do you have insurance? Or WIC? With either of those you should be able to get one :)
well unfortunately my husbands united healthcare insurance ended when he got laid off with an oil and gas company in November so this was really my only option if i wanted immediate prenatal care @ash2014c
