My son is one month tomorrow and is eating four ounces every two to three hours. Is it okay that I put a little rice cereal in his bottles?
I think it's all a matter of opinion. my baby girl took rice cereal in her bottle at 2 weeks and she'll be 9 months and has nothing but great nights sleep and healthy dr visits. do what you think is right for your baby
my doctor said that 4 is plenty enough for a one month old anymore could put baby at risk of developing health concerns also rice cereal shouldn't be given to babies under three months.
@madison621, oh and I forgot to add that it can mess with their digestive system cause that isn't developed yet either.
@madison621, our pediatrician said that it isn't a good idea to put rice cereal into their milk until their at least 4 months old cause they can choke, they aren't developed enough to stand the thickness of the cereal. He said the only time he would recommend it is if the child was waking up about every hour to eat or they have reflux problem. If you are going to do it please be careful cause your baby can aspirate it the fluid could go into their lungs and cause a whole new problem.
It's rice cereal? It's supposed to go in their formula to thicken it up for them
well my one month old is eating 4-6oz a setting about every 4 hours and I was told by my pediatrician that was fine as long as she's not spitting a ton up yes she spits up a little but not even that much so I would say it depends on baby honestly I haven't done rice cereal and don't think I would yet but that's me it has been thought about I would maybe ask your pediatrician a suggestion
