This is the sad reality of our justice system. It makes me so sick and I'm so sorry that he did not see jail time for this dear. As for your baby, please see a counselor and/ or lawyer to find out your rights here if you are concerned about what his rights will be. And yes, he will have rights if it is known that he is the father. If it were me, I'll be totally honest I would probably lie and say he is not the father. I'd say I had a one night stand or something, anything to ward him off. I would not want a rapist buzzing around my life forever. Maybe there is a way you can ban him from being able to see the child, such as if he is a danger to the baby (violent history, etc). I'd consider him dangerous just on the history of him raping you, but our justice system obviously doesn't put much stock in that. 😠
