my son got one at 12 months. I tried at 6 months but he hated it. he didn't start drinking bottles until 4 months tho. think that had something to do with it.
I started as soon as he could hold his bottle on his on. He was 4 months old at the time. He did great and is now strictly on a sippy cup and is 7 months old.

6 months we started when she had sold meals. took her a little bit to get used to it. she's 9 months now and going to start cups with straws soon.

I started my son on a sippy cup at about 7-8 months... by a year he was completely of the bottle an using his sippy cup
