anyone else find it extremely hard to deal with your pets when you became a mom? I have 2 dogs who were my world before my son came..now.. I can't keep up with there needs. my Yorkie wears diapers because she's getting older and has accidents, my German Shepard barks at everything and wakes my son up, they both growl at my son because my son is pretty active and scares my dogs.. it's impossible. I have a fenced in yard and they still get out and chew at the fence. I honestly leave them in my room because they make me nervous around my son with there actions..then my big dog chews at my door. there is no simple solution. I feel like they are jealous and desperate for attention but I just can't do it with working and being a mom while my husband is gone for weeks with work. my German shepherd makes me feel safe being home alone and my Yorkie cuddles me in bed while he's away..BUT I'm afraid with the new baby coming I should really consider rehoming them even though I said I never would. any suggestions?

I'm going through the same thing with my rottweiler...he's 6 months but he doesn't know his own strength or know when to be gentle with me and my step daughter..I know he's a puppy but before pregnant he was my son and now I don't have the energy to keep up with him

If you begin working with them now, there's hope! Instead of sending them out alone, go with them. A little ball or special treat (treat for when they don't chew) can make potty breaks easier. Don't leave them shut up anywhere, they will resent that. They want your time and attention just as before. I have a high-energy pup myself, and I'm unable to do much with her, but I always find some time (even if it's just holding and snuggling her while I watch a show) to give her some attention. Training is VERY important, and while professionals are pricy (we spent out over 1500 for her puppy classes and daycare) BUT it's worth it. All the animals know is, something is changing now. They're scared and uncomfortable, and need mom and dad to make it all right for them.

My dog is a pain but I love her little furry self. (Even with training, she is still very much a puppy and very much a loon lol)

We actually ended up giving our dog to a good shelter where she is currently being adopted out at. I had her for about 3 years, and she was already 2 years old when I got her. She was so spoiled before my first baby got here, all my attention went to her. But the moment my daughter was born she was pushed to the side. I didn't have time for her anymore. By the time I got up and was taking care of my daughter, changing her diaper, etc. She'd use the bathroom on the floor, so she became completely unhouse trained, and I honestly couldn't deal with it. And with having another baby on the way, I knew she'd get pushed further away. I wanted to give her the life she deserved, but couldn't. My heart broke over it, but I know she's okay and she's getting a family that can give her that attention. We definitely won't be getting any kind of pet for a long time. I don't even trust myself with a fish at this point.

this is exactly how I feel!! @their.bomb.ass.mom I know my dogs are great pets but I don't have the time or energy.. my German shepherd shows her teeth at my son if he gets 2 feet too close to her. I can't even shower without putting my dogs in a different room because I don't trust them. I know my son needs to learn to leave them alone but at what cost? she has never bit him but I still worry..

I would worry too! I love animals to bits, but my children come first, always. I would hate if an animal ever bit my child, but at least you're taking the precautions to prevent it! hopefully nothing happens. 😩
