How long after you started nursing your first baby did your nipples stop hurting??? Emilia has a great latch but my god my nipples are still killing me. Not to mention I have a clogged duct in one of them which does not help. I cringe for a few second everytime she nurses. I rub my breast milk on them after I nurse, which is what the nurses at the hospital told me to do, and I use nipple cream. That has helped with the cracking but the pain is still so bad😩

Mine didn't last long. You can try using a nipple shield until your feeling a bit better. I don't recommend doing it for a long time simply because my daughter got so use to it that she didn't want to nurse without it. But it REALLY helped. I also kept some gel soothies in the fridge and would put them on my nipples. They are cold but they felt amazing!

I had to use a shield but I found the reason my nipples hurt so bad was because he had a horrible latch my LC helped me get him to latch properly. with the nipple shield I also used nipple cream. it gave me some relief

as far as I know coconut oil is safe, since it's natural. but I can't say for sure

@bentleyandmommy I had her latched wrong at first because the nurse taught me wrong which caused one of my nipples to crack soooo bad. But then another nurse came in on her shift and taught me the right way. And that helped a ton. My nipples just started hurting again 2 or 3 days ago and now they constantly ache. I still latch her the same way and I do the same stuff they told me to do to keep them from cracking. But they didn't really give me any tips to keep them from hurting, they just said my nipples would get used to it.

@sarahrachel0715, it's safe. I had to use it when I was nursing in the beginning. and Ya I had my son latched wrong because of a nurse. this is the cream I used.
