I never went into natural labor with either baby so my suggestion is to call the OB / L&D department and see what a nurse says. Are you having cramps?

Since I've never gone through it, I would say if you're worried you can call in. That might be the best option. Were you exerting yourself any more than usual prior to the spotting?

How much is there? Do you need a pad?

Have you had sex?

Have you had an accident?

Have you been to the doctor and got checked or vaginal ultrasound?

Are you cramping, in pain, lower back pain?

Is your baby active?

Ate you leaking fluids?

If you had sex recently it can be normal. The cervix is very sensitive. Same with vaginal ultrasound and getting checked. It shouldn't be more than a little spotting though.

If it's brown then most likely old blood.

If it's red and you haven't had sex or anything else then you need to be concerned.

Keep track of your babys movement and wear a liner so you can tell how much your bleeding. Cramping and pain too time any contractions. You'll want to go to the hospital. They'll monitor you for any contractions and baby's heart. They'll probably also want to do an ultrasound to check where the bleeding is coming from and check out your cervix. If you're picking up contractions they will probably give you medicine to stop them.

I bled around that time and they didn't check to see if i was dilating because they didn't want to cause anymore reason to bleed or contract. They gave me a medicine it didn't work so they gave me two shots on my leg and that did it. They also did a swab test to see if it was likely that I'd go into labor in the next few days.

- its new just happen today.. and not a lot like smaller then the size of a penny. I haven't had sex for a month I believe and I have had vaginal ultrasound before but never bleed (had them every 2 weeks since I was 10 weeks until 24 weeks) because of my cervix length and having a different shape uterus ... I don't have any cramping at all or contractions at this point . and also baby is moving a lot normal kicks normal movement . and I have my next appointment with my Dr. January 4 and having an ultrasound to check growth January 8. @angiee
