MY LABOR STORY
My contractions started around midnight on the 17th. I waited for them to get closer together and then I went to l&d. They monitored me overnight and at 3 pm on the 17th I was only at a 2 and my contractions had stopped. So hubby and I walked around town, got some lunch, and then headed home. Around 11 that night my contractions were 2-4 minutes apart and the pain was unbearable. I had regular contractions and back contractions. Double the fun for me. I finally got to a 4 around 7am on the 18th so I was admitted and given my epidural. That was amazing, until it stopped working on my left side. My doctor broke my water to get things moving. And I got a 'blast' of medicine into my epidural to get it working again. It helped, but eventually it stopped working again. Around 11 pm on the 18th my doctor checked me again. I had at this point been stuck at an 8 for over 4 hours and I was showing no signs of progressing anytime soon. Since my water had been broken I had until 10:30 to get to a 10 or I'd have to have a c-section. So we agreed to give it until 4 am and if I had no changes we'd go ahead and do the c-section. Around 1 am on the 19th my epidural gave out completely. I had never been in so much pain in my whole life. It turns out her head was ready to come out but I wasn't dilating enough to let her. The nurse checked me, I was still at an 8 and since I was crying and screaming in excruciating pain, she started prepping me for surgery. Since my epidural stopped working completely I had to be put to sleep, which meant my fiancé couldn't go with me which scared me to death. He tried his best to comfort me and let me know that everything would be okay and that when I woke up, I would be a mom. A little after 2am I was rolled into the OR and prepped for surgery. After 50 hours of intense labor our sweet baby girl was born at 2:43 am on 12/19 weighing 7 lbs 13 oz and 22 inches long. She is perfect and so beautiful and I would go through all of that pain 100 more times just to have her here.
