So everybody is saying that newborn should eat for 15 minutes on both breasts or 30 on one. My son does that like once a day, other feeds are no longer than 6-10 minutes, he won't empty my breast and I'm worrying. He is gaining weight, but the thought that he's not eating enough is driving me crazy... Help :( do you feed your babies on demand or follow those breastfeeding rules? (
A lot of doctors are not educated on breastfeeding! If you have the right amount of wet diapers and they are growing they are good! That's why I feel many fail because professionals don't give correct info! You're doing great. And remember sometimes they will nurse A LOT like more often for a bit called cluster feeding because they are growing. Doesn't mean you don't have enough it just means they are growing and building your supply. Just feed on demand and let them finish when they want and offer the other side if to see if they want it. If they don't that's okay! My baby was born 6 lbs 3 oz and now at 4 months almost 15 lbs so I know it's fine. He has plenty of diapers lol!
the Dr should of told you as long as your son have wet and poop diapers he's eating. if you need help a lactation nurse will help out better
@preggerstone, I just hate it that doctors says that there are rules, it's confusing, I feel terrible, because I always think that I don't have enough milk or baby isn't eating well.. Just tired
Honestly your baby will eat as long as they want. There's no rules. My LO would eat between 15-30 mins only on one side. Sometimes both sides. Now he eats 6-15 mins on both sides.
She is for 15 - 30 mins but she's 4 months when she was that small I would just let her eat as much as she wants
@mommmyof1, but how long? I'm worrying that his eating sessions are short and maybe it's baking him gassy, since he's eating more foremilk and doesn't get enough hindmikk
My baby eats the way she wants I don't switch side because she gets mad if I change her
@preggerstone, thanks! That's so cool:) I hope my son gained weight over the last week.we'll see next time we go to our pediatrician
