So my son (on month on Thursday) has acid reflux REALLY bad. The pediatrician put him on Zantac syrup twice a day and I changed his formula from Similac Advanced to Enfamil AR. Other than this has anyone else experienced this and have any advice as to what I can do? Advice is much appreciated!
@brittknee, that's my next step if this medicine and switched formula doesn't work because my boyfriend's other son had to have soy formula due to a problem with dairy.
He has been on the AR for about 3 days now and I have seen a little improvement but of course it will take a little longer to see if it is really working or not. He is just extremely fussy and ALWAYS wants a bottle and I feel so bad because I can't give him one unless it is time to feed or it will make him even more fussy and make him spit up.
My niece had the same problem and they gave her Zantac. Finally switched her to AR and she did so much better. She couldn't eat laying down, had to be sitting up or she would vomit. And we had to burp her every couple of ounces. If she couldn't burp she would vomit. She's a year old now and has been so much better since getting on the AR and doesn't even have to take the Zantac anymore.
my daughter was breastfed but I had to cut out all dairy and now she can't have any dairy and drinks almond milk.
soy isn't the best option as it contains estrogen and personally I would look into dairy free donor milk or a goats milk formula.
