Mine didn't do much, originally he was trying to listen to the heartbeats on the doppler. He only found 1, so we did an US to look at the twins and he said he could tell us the gender if we wanted to know. This was at 14+6. Two boys. :)
If you haven't had an ultrasound yet, they will probably do one. Otherwise, its fairly uneventful but still exciting. You get to hear the baby's heartbeat on a dopplar, and if they can't pick the heartbeat up that way, chances are you're in for another trans vaginal ultrasound to get a visual or audio of the heartbeat. Which, of course, is always better than just hearing the heartbeat alone. You might also get some bloodwork if you chose a screening test.
At mine all they did was check the baby's heartbeat, if you're having a healthy pregnancy my doctor doesn't like to do ultrasounds until 18-20 weeks for anatomy since most insurances don't cover them.
