This was a scary way to start my holidays. Luckily my lil guy is doing so much better, and nearly over his sickness. As a breastfeeding mom, I can't tell you how many times I've heard the suggestion of giving formula, or that something was wrong with my milk and the reason he gets sick so often so easily.

Those people couldn't be more wrong. Regardless of how my son is fed, he'd be sick like this regardless. He was diagnosed with Reactive Airways Disease. Much like asthma, but most children outgrow it. It's just whenever our weather gets cold fast, he gets a simple bad cold or virus, it'll be much worse for him. His oxygen levels were dropping and he had trouble breathing. Sure is a scary thing to go through, but knowing I'm doing my best for him is what counts.

Despite those negative suggestions on how I should nourish my son, I keep on nursing. I ignore them. They may not know this, but whenever I'm sick, or my son is sick, my body creates antibodies that pass through my milk and help my son fight off sickness and get healthier faster. A great example of this, is the first time he was in the hospital we were in there for 4 days. This second visit was 4mos later and we were in there for only 1 day. I may not have the fanciest things or the most money, but this is the best I can offer my son right now, and it feels great to push through the difficult times and say we've made it, and still breastfeeding.
