there are many different types. like prefolds and covers (old school) all in one where inserts are sewn in, all in 2 where inserts snap into the outer shell, pocket diapers where you stuff inserts inside the pocket, fitteds which are absorbant but require a cover to be leak proof, hybrid fitteds which do not require a cover because they have a hidden waterproof layer. I have been cloth diapering since my daughter was 4 months and she is now 18 months. I have not and will not ever buy a disposable again!
I use all in one's, all in 2, and covers and prefolds on my day to day. there are different materials as well for inserts. microfiber which is what generally come with pocket diapers and microfiber cannot touch the babies skin. then there are the natural more absorbant fibers such as hemp (we use hemp for night diapes) charcoal bamboo & bamboo.
this is my daughter in a pocket diaper stuff with a microfiber insets and a hemp insert. brand is moraki. I love cloth cause they are adorable and save so much money!
@mommabear3cubs so they are basically recyclable? how are the cleaned? Is there a certain part you dispose of? there is so much to learn with these, I had no clue but im actually considering. :)
u wash them in the washer. u can use a regular detergent like tide nothing fancy needed. we have a diaper spray and spray the poop into the toilet and then they get washed in the washer. we wash diapers every 3 days. u can use liners to help make cleaning easier. if u have facebook check out the page Fluff Love and CD Science for tons of info.
@mommabear3cubs, how many diapers do you own to be able to wash every 3 days? I have (I think) 30 and was planning to wash every day but now I'm second guessing because I know how lazy I really am.

Lol I have like 36 @bria.k but my daughter is 18 months so she last longer in her diapers than a younger baby does.
