Needing some advice. Has anyone ever been diagnosed with a "blighted ovum"? My first ultrasound was yesterday morning and my Obgyn told me I most likely have a blighted ovum because my gestational sac is empty. I've read online that so many women are misdiagnosed and go back to get another ultrasound a week or two later and see a baby in the gestational sac. Just wondering if anyone has been through this before only to find out there really was a baby but it was too early to see on the first ultrasound?

I've had a blighted ovum. I was about 6 weeks and miscarried about two weeks later. How your story ends different.

yes! I went to the e.r at 5wks bc I was spotting and cramping and they did a vaginal ultrasound and saw just a sac and said it was that or the baby wasn't big enough to see yet...I had to go back and get another one at 9wks before we saw a tiny peanut! don't stress just yet and try again in a few weeks bc as long as your not actively bleeding you are probably still pregnant...your dates may be off and you may not be as far along as they originally thought too :)

I went to the ER one week ago and they told me the baby is measuring at 5 weeks 1 day. I had my first Obgyn appointment yesterday and they told me by my last period I should be 7 weeks 4 days but there was just an empty sac. So I'm hoping I'm just too early to see the baby and hoping we can see the baby at the next ultrasound. I've been spotting on and off but not a lot of blood so I haven't miscarried yet.

I'm really hoping it's just too early but my ultrasound was yesterday and they scheduled me for another one on Tuesday. That's only 4 days apart so I'm hoping that's enough time for a change. If not, I'll wait a few more weeks and go back for another ultrasound.
