I don't want to sound stupid, but how does pumping work? what do you do with the milk once it's pumped? do you put it in bags & freeze it? how long is the milk good for? do you de-thaw it when you're ready to use? do you pour it in bottles when you're ready to feed baby? what kind of bottles do you have to use? I have so many questions & no one close to me has breast fed. I plan on breastfeeding and pumping since I'll be back to working full time when my leave is over. can you switch back and forth between bottle feeding breast milk & breastfeeding? (like breast feed while I'm home, have my sitter bottle feed when I'm working)

well with pumping you pump into either a bottle or a storage bag that attaches directly to the pump. you freeze the milk or store it in the fridge for up to a week of you freeze it in a regular freezer it last 6 months if you freeze it in a deep freezer it last a year. it is very possible to breast feed & bottle feed but you don't want to introduce the bottle to early because baby can get confused with the nipples & prefer the bottle over your own & as for pumping its not recommended to pump before 6 weeks & as for feeding you thaw the milk by running it under warm tap water then you pour it in the bottle there is also the storage/feeding system called kiinde & with that you use the bag that has a special bottle attachment to it but otherwise you can't really feed it straight out if the bag.

As for bottles I've never actually breastfed and I have only had the first part of the breastfeeding training stuff so I don't know for sure as for bottles and stuff but I know that you warm up the milk with warm tap water in the back and I think you either pour the milk into the bottle or the bag sits in the bottle and you just feed the baby with the bag in the bottle. But for the bag in the bottle thing I think your suppose to use special bottles. I'm not much help lmao

Okay so you should see a lactation specialist in your third trimester. She'll explain everything a lotttt better than I will now but basically you pump the milk into storage bags and you can put it in the fridge for I think 4 days and I'm the freezer for up to 6 months.
