So, my husband and father of our soon to be born child is not the father of my older boys. I've come to realize in the past few years, our parenting style is extremely different and it's starting to cause problems. He's too strict and I'm too laid back. It causes a lot of conflict when trying to set rules, and it's making Christmas shopping this year an issue. He feels the boys shouldn't get expensive things because that's not how he was raised, on the other hand if I want to buy my kid something I should be able to. Any advice? It's stressing me out. 😢😡

I'll always get what I can afford for mine because there may be a Christmas where I can't afford much so I want them to be able to have a good Christmas as much as possible 🙏🏼 being said if the older ones are yours it's not really up to him what you get them for Christmas

You should save the expensive gifts for a bday present and get the affordable gifts for Xmas

:) good luck! I understand what it's like to have disagreements over parenting styles but this is my first baby so I'm not a whole lot of help. But my parents always got us kids one big gift and then little ones :)

It's for both of them. We're broke this year and instead of buying cheap crap toys I wanted to get them something the will both enjoy and use. It's only $50 and that's what we have to spend on them. Just seemed more logical to me and he flipped out telling me I spoil them. @mariahabigael, I agree with her! I don't see anything wrong with that at all! It's better than cheap toys that they won't play with for long or that will break fast. I don't think that's spoiling them at all!

It's the Disney infinity 3.0 starter pack. They have figures for the 1.0 and I thought an upgrade would be nice since they love playing it so much. But in his eyes they are spoiled and I'm not being a good mom. It really upset me, he doesn't seem to care about making Christmas special for them and we've been together for 6 years.

Thanks for your opinions everyone. He made me feel so stupid for wanting that for them. I know were broke but seriously, I'm not going to have an empty tree this year, I'll be damned if my kids don't get at least something special from us.
