so we might get evicted. I refuse to pay my landlord rent because there's so many issues with our house that he won't come out and fix. he expects us to fix it on our own. I'm renting and do not own this and will not fix something or spend money to fix something on a place that isn't even mine.

Take him to court and fight it, or go to the housing authority.

We just have someone fix it then give our land lord the bill:)

I honestly don't even find it to be worth it! it's a small shitty trailer. and he refuses to fix anything for anyone. he had a main water break and keeps coming out to try and fix it on his own. and shutting everyone's water off and then telling us not to drink it for a few days. because there's dirt in it. like come on, I'm pregnant. what the fuck do you expect me to do with dirty ass water... @sarahemccormick

Yeah.... I don't think you would win if you haven't been paying your rent though...

or fix it and give him the receipt with the rest of your rent money. (: and refuse to pay the extra and keep a copy of the receipt for you just in case.

it still doesn't work like that.. you still have to pay your rent whether or not he fixes things.. but you can definitely take him to court for not fixing things.

It's needs to be on the lease for him to be responsible to fix it. If it is then you can definitely take him to court. He is breaking his own contract.

My dad used to be a landlord, and I'm in the same boat. My dad told me the exact same thing as what @kambriismommy said. If it's part of the landlords responsibility and you fix it yourself after his refusal to do so, it comes out of your rent. The rent money is what he's supposed to use to fix problems in the first place. I had to get rid of bugs in my place, and now have to replace my stove, and next my fridge... Ugh, I hate slumlords.

You can also go to the bank and open an escro account. It's a specific account that you put your rent money in every month on time and if he does evict you. You can go to court and that escro account wil state you still payed your rent and has the money. I think the bank makes you write something as to why you're opening one. I had to do it with my old landlord and he got his rent when the house got fixed. He could also get fined if you called the land taxes or whatever where they inspect the houses and they'll force him to fix everything by a certain time
