so my baby boy is doing good after his vet visit today. we did get some bad news though. He has two very large and sharp kidney stones that can't pass on their own so he'll need surgery to remove them. He will also have to be switched to a new food for the rest of his life to prevent future stones. I don't like the ingredients in the new food so I'll have to do some research on what I can give him instead.

thank you @josiahsmommy219 and @brandylemonds15 he's scheduled for surgery on Friday so he should be feeling a little better after that. they said he's had the stones as long as two years to a year and a half. I'm worried but I know he'll be ok, just not my wallet lol.

Oh goodness poor baby !! Haha I understand that I had a chocolate lab who loved to eat things he wasn't supposed to thankfully we have a vet near us that cares more about pets than the money so they are very reasonably priced

@brandylemonds15, he's not going to be happy about the new diet plan lol he's been eating blue buffalo for years and this stuff the vet have us is mostly fillers and cheap meat by-products.

Eeew !! The only stuff my lab could eat was the pedigree we tried everything his digestive system was so sensitive and if he even ate a bite of any other food his skin would get really dry and flakey and his hair would start falling out so we'd have to give him a steroid shot , so maybe he will like the pedigree I'm surprised the blue buffalo did that I thought it was supposed to be the best food out there ..

@brandylemonds15, they aren't sure what caused the stones yet. it could just be that he's older. we'll find out after surgery when they analyze the stones. @esthelaaa I've done some research on nutro and found that it contains ingredients that my boy can't have and then read some reviews that stated that people's dogs were having seizures and becoming ill after eating it. he already has seizures so I don't think I'll be trying it with him.
