Crazy question. Do I have the rite to put whatever last name for Zoey or does her dad have rites…

You can put whatever name you want, but if the dad doesn't agree he might not sign it...

You don't have to let him sign the birth certificate OR give her his last name if that's what your asking ?

If her dad wants rights to her, you can't deny him. He can go to court and fight for her to have his last name and the majority of the time, the courts will side with him.

The hospital will put whatever YOU say. Whether the dad is there or not it doesn't matter they are gonna put whatever the person who pushed out the baby says.

Dads have no right unless they go to court and request a formal DNA test because until then there's not even any proof that he's really the dad or not. There's only proof your the mom because well.. They just watched it come out your vagina haha

I'm pretty sure if he signs the birth certificate he has just as many rights as you do, but if he doesn't then he'll have to have a DNA test done to gain any. my ex is not on my oldest sons birth certificate but my husband is on my youngest sons and when I was having trouble with my ex that is what my lawyer told me. you have all the rights until he is on the certificate.

found this. I'm pretty sure that if he wants rights after the birth certificate is filed then he will have to prove paternity at that point. if you do not want him to have rights, do not put him on the certificate

you can keep his name off the birth certificate if you want or you can put him on there and still have her last name as yours
