It's not a bucket seat. Is that what you mean? You can use that car seat from birth on up though. I would ask your hospital if they require you to leave with baby in a bucket but I can't see why they'd require that. A lot of people use convertible car seats instead.

I buy my travel system already but now my husband want me to take it back and just buy this carseat.....but I think I need a baby carseat for the hospital

I had my two boys in the same Hospital and always they ask me for the carseat because they need to make sure everything is right so that's why I think I need a baby carseat

My hospital didn't even look to see what seat I was using or anything.

the hospital can't stop you from leaving if your child is properly strapped into a convertible carseat. some will say it's "hospital policy" but they legally can't do a dang thi ng about it so long as baby isn't riding home in your lap. if you buy this seat and completely bypass the infant carrier (like I'm doing) and someone tries to tell you no ask them to show you their verification card proving they are a certified carseat tech. if they don't have one, tell them to screw off. any real CPST, who is trained and educated in all aspects of car seat safety knows a convertible is perfect safe unless the baby doesn't fit the seat properly (which is usually the case with safety 1st carseats, and baby trend infant carriers. you definitely won't have that problem with the 4ever.)

if you wanna get the 4ever and are concerned about the hospital, message me and I can help you find a tech in your local area, and you can contact your local tech and ask them to help you install your seat properly and speak to your hospital so they have no grounds to keep you from leaving. nurses let women leave with their newborns in infant carriers with after market covers, aftermarket straps, the infant inserts, huge bulky jackets and not even strapped in safely and say "oh they're perfectly fine" when you're not. so you know they know nothing about carseats. just saying.

@mommyanddude, why do you say baby trend infant car seats don't fit babies right?

@swtlilangl, usually it's because the baby trend infant carriers lowest harness slot is to high for an average newborn causing the straps to come from above the babies shoulders, not below like they should for rear facing. making it so the baby is to small for the carrier. that's not always the case, some people's newborns have larger torsos making it so they fit the seat well, but that's not common.

so the general rule of thumb for most carseat techs is to not suggest a baby trend infant carrier unless the mother has already given birth and can place the baby in it themselves to see where the harness straps are on their child.
