Does anyone know if medical card/Medicaid pays for circumcision? Cause someone told me they don't!

This is the first time I've ever heard such because they always just come get my babies out the room n go circumcise them they only ask if h don't want it
@elenasmommy, thank you for posting that because I was about to say the same thing! My son wasn't circumcised till he was a year old do to medical issues. I learned a lot about the difference between circumcised and uncircumcised penises. Why people decided to have there baby done and why some don't. And really learned that it was all a choice really! I choose to get my son circumcised because his father is. But it was a choice not necessary because of infections or anything like that!
Normally they don't cover it because it is completely a COSMETIC choice. Not a medically necessary procedure unless something were to happen.
I know it was wasn't covered here in fl but my friend was covered in Ohio so just depends where you live
@excitedmommy143, not trying to be rude but that's actually not true at all it doesn't cause infections a penis is actually self cleaning like a vagina if you don't circumcise it. you should do some research on circumcision. Unless your doc tells you your son needs it (super rare) then it's just a personal cosmetic choice.
i went to a maternity tour and here in california the nurse that gave us the tour and information said no because it is considered cosmetic surgery.

It's really dumb if they don't pay for it cause it cause a lot of infections for ur son if he is not. I'm not going to be very happy if they don't cover it. I think it's very necessary to have ur son circumcised so he won't have to deal with problems later because of it. ugh it's so stupid!
Well Medicaid differs by states @excitedmommy143 you better ask to make sure.... If you don't have insurance they charge $75 here in Tx...
My bad, when I read your post I saw medical and thought it was medi cal. I know in California they don't cover it.
Some of them do. What plan do you have, my sister had Amerigroup and they did it in the hospital threw her insurance

I don't think so I don't think they'll pay for any cosmetic surgery Only stuff that's medically necessary but it differs by state
I don't think they do because it is considered "cosmetic" which I think is dumb.
I don't believe they cover it, at least when I was in Louisiana I was told they do not. It cost about $100 there to have it done. Not sure if it is different for different states/ hospitals.
