Birth story: Around midnight I started having a contraction. And then another. They were painful. After the third I started to use an app to time them. They weren't consistent but they kept coming. I also started to get nauseous and gagging. Hubby kept waking up to check on me and I kept going back and forth about going into the hospital. I didn't want to be the woman who cried labor. At around 2 I finally said we should go. I jumped in the shower but didn't have anymore while I showered. I got out and changed my mind. Hubby told me to trust myself, that I knew my body and that if I felt off then I probably was. So we went. In triage they checked me and I was having pretty painful but inconsistent contractions and I was 5 cm dilated. They admitted me. It was 3:45 AM. I labored in bed and I was checked and checked and checked. Which every time hurt like a bitch. After around 6 AM or so I was 8 cm and the nurses and my doctors were shocked at how calm I was and how I was talking and laughing as they watched my contractions do hills and valleys on the monitor. They kept asking about pain meds but I was good. When I got to 9 1/2 my doctor tried to get me to push passed the last 1/2 cm but there was no pressure. So they started pitocin on 2. It did nothing. Finally moved it to 4 and made me lay on my left side. Then I was actually having the kind of contractions you see on TV. and I thought I should have taken the drugs. And then I finally felt the pressure. The dr poured warm water on me and They made me sit up and hold my thighs and push. I pushed and thought I was gonna die. I think I pushed five or six times and she was out. We did skin to skin for a while before the nurses took her away. I had to cough to get the placenta out. Felt so weird and then the dr started to numb me to sew me. He said I wouldn't have torn except she decided to spin and they had to spin her back. They lie when they say the second labor is easier and quicker than the first.
Charlee Justice was born November 23,2015 at 9:44 AM. She weighed 7 lbs and 14 ounces and she was 19.5 inches in length. And I'm in the hospital until Wednesday and my kooka is so sore that I can barely get in and out of bed to use the bathroom. Belly still big but uterus is shrinking like it's supposed to. Nothing else hurts.
