my baby is due in a few weeks.. . i know for the first few weeks he will have insurance through me…

my baby is due in a few weeks.. . i know for the first few weeks he will have insurance through me until i add him to my insurance case. I know who i want as his pediatrician but when exactly do i call the office to make an appointment. do i wait until he is born or am i suppose to call before? and will they accept him with my insurance since by the first week he wont have his own yet?
