NEED TO VENT: my husband makes enough money to cover all of our bills and everything with a little bit left over, I really want to be a stay at home mom for at least the first couple of years for our son and not miss out and worry about having something and happen at a daycare, yet I got a job 20 weeks pregnant so he could continue to live a comfortable life that he was used to before we got married a year ago. (He's having a hard time adjusting to taking care of another person) so he just calls me to tell me he's going to take off December 11th- January 6th (which is our 1 year anniversary) and I'm due January 24th... He only gets 10 days of paid paternity leave, and so I told him you should save your leave just in case we don't have a sitter in place for after my 6 weeks of maternity leave is up and you could watch the baby for a week or two to find a reliable daycare/sitter and he just said no, that he's not doing that and he's going to take the leave anyways. And I just want to cry. I have to work up until the day I deliver while he will be at home taking 3 weeks off and then I only get to take 6 weeks of maternity leave... I'm just frustrated...

@royalmommy, I think he's being really selfish too.. I just don't know what else to say or do. He doesn't realize the cost of having a baby let alone the cost of daycare. I'll basically be working just to pay for daycare, so why not stay home to be with the baby and watch him myself!

wow... what a prick. i'd say fuck his "comfort" 😒 what ever you have to do to make sure you and baby are okay after delivery, make sure it's done sweetie. if he can handle the bills, then it's time for him to step up and do so. the well being of the baby and you feeling comfortable that he/she is safe at daycare is what is most important

@mango44, that's exactly how I feel. I already have high anxiety and I just can't fathom taking my 6 week old son to a daycare with a bunch of other kids. He will be so little... My work really pushing me to only take 6 weeks, I feel like I need at least 12 weeks with the baby!

i'd say do this... talk to your doctor about it and let them know you're really stressed about it. see if you can get a note saying that you need 12 weeks. typically they understand those things, but you'll never know unless you ask. and bc it's doctor orders, what can your job say/do? nothing really. i'd say see if that works first and then from there depending on the answer, do what you have to do bc i feel the same. 6 weeks is WAY too young to drop your baby off with strangers and other kids. other kids have germs that the parents just don't care that they spread. ugh. i used to work in a daycare with babies and toddlers. i was sick all the time, lol snotty nose kids! hehe j/k. but I definitely understand, but don't stress. look into work from home options or into things that could make you money from home so that you can still keep some sort of income. it would be the perfect time to do so and make a plan! besides, who doesn't love supporting new mommies? lol you'll be okay hun!
