Holy cow, only 1-1.5 oz an hour... holy hell...

breastfed babies eat 1 to 1.5 Oz a hour so it sounds right to me. on the Gerber website there's a place where you can have a lactation consultant call you its free if you can't get to one. or look up on fb breastfeeding, the struggles we've over come they are AMAZING!

Maybe you should see a lactation consultant he may not be getting anything when he nurses if he's not latching right even if you are using a sheiks he could still be doing it wrong. Definitely try different positions while nursing as well I found that the best way for me was the foot ball hold in the beginning because you have a lot of control of his little head make sure when you nurse him that your nipple is level with his nose & make sure he opens really wide open when you put your nipple in his mouth. Don't let him slurp it up

no, breastfeeds, then acts like he's starving, so I pump and give it too him. he eats at least 2-1/2 oz from bottle after boob every feeding... and sleeps 3-4 (sometimes through the night) then wakes up.

They do go through growth spurts around that time. Is he crying every 30 minutes or so? It's called cluster feeding. Look it up also he is only 6 days old so your nipples are fed gonna be sore I was sore for about two weeks& this isn't my first time breastfeeding. I used my own milk just rub it in & let them air dry

he shouldn't want that much milk... 2-1/2 to 3 oz.

I would really suggest a consultant then, he may not be getting enough if he isn't latched good .

well, he doesn't latch correctly. we have to use nipple sheilds. and then I'll feed him (switching boobs) for about 45 minutes.. and when he's done he acts like he's still starving.. like what? @floridamommy1024 @steph11

coconut oil! or squirt some bm on them and let them air dry

Get a good latch. It shouldn't hurt. Mine did at first till I saw a lactation consultant.
