I understand my mother is excited for the birth of her grandchild and I love her dearly, but I don't understand why she thinks she should be the one to inform everyone when I'm going into labor and when she arrives. If he wasn't overseas she wouldn't even know until after she arrives. I just want some privacy to bond right after and don't want to be immediately bombarded with my family.

Mine is the same way so we are doing a one hour before we tell anyone and then another hour before they can come see and if she will get in the room tell her she needs to have her phone off and in the car or something tell her you understand she's excited by its your baby so it's your Job. Just be firm she should be ok with it

@countrycupcake111215, it's so annoying. I didn't even get to tell anyone the sex of my baby. She started calling ppl immediately after the anatomy scan. 🙄 I feel like she's taking some of the joy out of it for me.

You definitely need to be firm with her then dear. We made sure we told family together and didn't tell my mom or his first. I get they are excited but you are the mommy and she has to understand that maybe sit down and explain and ask how she would have felt if someone had taken all her joy away. You should definitely be able to enjoy those moments, especially if it's your first baby and even if it's your 5th @nursebetti

@countrycupcake111215, I've been laying down the rules to her, but she keeps asking me well can I just tell this person.. No! If it wasn't for my SO being in Kosovo, I wouldn't even call her til after. I'm hoping that my best friend will be around (she works out of town 4 days a week) so i don't have to call my mom to be my support person. I asked her today if anyone did this to her through her three pregnancies and she said no. So I asked her why she wouldn't just let me announce my child. She got mad and said fine I won't tell anyone.

I'm sorry. I hope she comes around. Being a grandma is exciting but she should be more excited for you and she should be your support not your stress. She should remember what it's like and respect that @nursebetti

Any time like I said I know what that's like I'm just lucky and have my bf here for support so I can limit what my mom knows. Good luck. If you ever need to vent you're welcome to message me hopefully she stays calm and relaxed now @nursebetti
