My friend has been to visit and just before had been with a child with chicken pox I have a 2 year old and I'm 30 weeks pregnant will it harm us? I'm a little worried any advice will be appreciated xx
Yea and also the fact I wasn't in contact with the child should help the situation aha... thanks for your comments x
you should be fine. my daughter had them when I was pregnant and I was worried but was told by a few medical professionals that if I had it as a child I would be fine. it's more dangerous if you haven't had it before x
I spoke to midwife and they say that because I've had chicken pox as a child Il be fine x
@winterbaby95, you can yes but nhs website says that it is very unlikely but if you have not had it before rightly so you should be careful. NHS also states @jess1712 significant contact is 15 mins in the same room as somebody who has the virus so if it was just your friend and not the child you should be ok. Like I say I had chicken pox as a child and I've had shingles a few years ago but didn't catch chicken pox or shingles off my kids when they had it. It just says to seek advice if you have been in contact with somebody that has the virus when you haven't or If you are pregnant and develop a rash. I think incubation is around 2 weeks so it would be around then that a rash appeared anyway. x
I know you weren't in contact with the child, but she was...so she could be carrying it...and potentially pass it onto you x
If you have had it before...you can get it again!...I have never had it before...so I am very careful etc :)
My friend isn't a parent so she don't quite understand... but I wasn't in contact with the child?
That's really irresponsible of the friend to visit you!! I'm shocked! My midwife said to stay clear of people/children that have chicken poxs. If she has contracted it...she might have passed it onto your child and you! I would call your midwife and ask for her advice. Also if you start getting symptoms. My midwife said to stay at home and call your gp/midwife....as I think they may be able to come out to you so you aren't at risk of infecting anyone else.
I see it do I have to be in contact with the child to get it ? as I wasn't in contact with him but my friend was then came over mine x
thanku xx
