I need to vent... so please feel free to keep scrolling. My 22 year old cousin and I are both pregnant, but she's 3 weeks ahead of me. I am in no way criticizing her, but the following details are important... she's a high school dropout, and has never held a job. When she got pregnant, my family hurried to throw a wedding together for her and her baby's father because her immediate family is very religiously conservative and my cousin wanted to get married anyway. So they got married and then a couple months later my family threw her a giant baby shower. Over 50 people came and we literally filled 6 trucks worth of presents. Now there's me. My fiancé left me at 17 weeks with no explanation, has cut off all contact and has gone under the radar making it virtually impossible for me to locate him or have any kind of communication. My family's response (excluding my mom and brother who've been incredibly supportive)?? They've told me they can't/won't throw me a shower because there's "too much shame being an unwed mother." I'm no better than my cousin but I do have two bachelor's degrees, a master's degree, have a great job and have traveled the world... and yet I'm being shamed and punished because of my status as a single mother? Is this really 2015 or 1915?? I'm so hurt, and disillusioned.

I feel that's extremely wrong. who does that? they must feel the need to "baby" her because she's younger and your older , but why should that even matter?

wow. thats stupid! ask a friend to throw you one! and if they cant, i know it can be stressful, but maybe have your mom help you throw you one??

Throw your own baby shower😊it really shouldn't be about ur cousin shouldn't even bother you really just let it go...don't see why shes even an issue sweetie..believe you are not the only single mother out Their and wont be the last..focus on YOU & baby thats whats really important your health and babys good luck on everything

I'm just having such a hard time accepting the breakdown/loss of my engagement, and my future as a single mom. I know that I can and will be fine... but in moments of weakness and vulnerability, I began to doubt myself and feel so sad for my daughter that so few people are excited about her arrival. Hormones on top of family issues have really left me overwhelmed, hurt and confused.

I see why it upsets you not to have the support of family and feel alone bcuz the person who helped you make the back y abandoned you.... But I do hope that u can see the bright side of it all you are gonna be a mother and no matter the circumstance that is a blessing just in itself.

@tayek, yes ma'am! I guess im even more determined to provide the best life possible for her. And @caseclosed2015 I'll probably be sharing pics with my preggies before my family. You all have been such a foundation of support. Really grateful for the girls on this app.
