Question!! Has anyone ever had parts of their cervix biopsied while pregnant? I got parts biopsied and removed before I became pregnant but I am having to do it again because more spots are showing abnormal and they want to make sure it's just the pre cancer cells and not actual cancer now.

I was supposed to but when I had my colposcopy(sp) I had just found out I was pregnant and the doctor determined he didnt need to biopsy because it didnt look that far advanced and he didn't want to risk anything happening in the pregnancy, I know its not a helpful answer but I do know the fear.

@xoxo512070, right that's what I am doing on the 12th the colposcopy. We have waited until my second trimester because of the risk of loosing the baby. She said that if it's just pre cancer again they will leave it till I have the baby. They just want to make sure it's not actual cancer cells. The reason they are so worried is cause I literally had the other pre cancer spots removed 2 months before I got pregnant and now there are more spots that weren't there 2 months ago.

@hward12, wow that's really close together! I had part of my cervix burned off because I was one stage away from cancer but that was in 2008, my doctor has not done the biopsy yet but said he would wait until after baby comes and see if it clears up because pregnancy can cause abnormal paps and usually clear after delivery

@xoxo512070, how crazy that's exactly how mine was before I got it removed. I was one stage away from cancer. I hope after your pregnancy is done everything is cleared up!!

My pap came back with abnormal cells but my Dr. Told me that i'll just have a retest after I have my daughter. She also told me that they can be very inaccurate while pregnant because of hormones. But since there are actual spots showing up its probably safest to do it now! Good luck momma.

@bria.k, the reason why they wanted to see if it was anything more when my pap came back abnormal is because I had just gotten part of my cervix removed 2 months before I got pregnant. I was one stage away from having cervical cancer. Now they are worried with spots showing up this soon after it might have gone to the next stage. I'm nervous about the biopsy because it does make you bleed and cramp but the chance of a miscarriage from it in the 2nd trimester is slim
