I was told that too. hence why in not having one. I have only had 2 showers.

Lots of people don't do it for a second baby.

I've heard the shower for the second child is called a sprinkle and it's for all the stuff you need for the new baby that you don't still have from the first baby

It depends on which standards your MIL is going by...old tradition will say that you have one just for the first. However, these days, it's more lenient. People have them if the sex of the 2nd (or 3rd+) is different from the first or if there are multiple years in between kids. Sounds like you fall into the category of having your kids further apart, and if somebody wants to throw you one...let them :). Everybody loves celebrating babies! Your MIL will have to take her opinion elsewhere.

I've always been told that all new life should be celebrated. Honestly until using different baby forms I've never heard this. I don't have a shower to get gifts hell we buy almost everything anyway except clothes.

People always have told me this also. My kids will be 9 years apart so I really wanted one, but guess it's not happening 😕

I mean I never thought I'd be having another baby or maybe I would have kept more of his things. But after a few years of keeping them they just kind of get in your way lol. But okay well hopefully I can find someone who will help me throw one. I really don't care if she don't think I should have one lol. But thanks for all of your input!

Well darn, I just look at it like the main reason for having a shower is to celebrate having the baby and also to help the parents out with gifts. I feel like if we don't throw one then we won't get any type of help and right now money has been kind of tight. And the closer it gets to him being here the more I'm freaking out

@awayne, that's what I'm wondering lol and also my first was a boy and so is this one but like I said my first is 6 yo, after 6 years I never really thought I'd be having another baby. So I have NO baby things left over. Like I'm a clean freak and I can't stand having a lot of storage and stuff I couldn't imagine keeping all his baby things for 6 years lol

I don't think there's anything wrong with it if someone wants to throw one & people show up. TTC our sixth right now and I will absolutely have to have a shower bc the youngest boy is 7 and if it's a girl it's been 12 years since I've had a baby girl lol.

have a shower and just whatever is needed. I will definitely have another one even if I have another boy. I need diapers., a lot of diapers lol it's your baby.

I did but it wasn't my idea. My boys were 7 years apart so that's a little different. If, someone. offers to throw one for you I would say go for it.

I was going to have another shower since boy # 1 and boy # 2 should have been 4 1/2 years apart, but I gave birth at 29 weeks so I didn't even have time to do a baby shower (among other things). I'm thinking of stealing the "sprinkle" idea. That way it's not a full blown shower, but we'll still celebrate the birth of my second son. I would have wanted to do a meet and greet but I'm not about to have a bunch of people around my preemie in the middle of flu season. But multiple showers are becoming more acceptable, and I'm a fan of them, I just don't think everyone agrees with them.
